Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about SkyPredict's services
How often is the weather data updated?
Our weather data is updated every 15 minutes for most locations. For severe weather conditions, updates may occur more frequently (every 5 minutes). The timestamp on each forecast or map indicates when the data was last refreshed.
What sources does SkyPredict use for weather data?
We aggregate data from multiple reliable sources including:
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)
- Weather station networks worldwide
- Satellite imagery from NASA and ESA
Our algorithms combine these sources to provide the most accurate forecasts possible.
Why does my local forecast sometimes differ from other services?
Different weather services may show variations due to:
- Different data sources and models
- Varying update frequencies
- Alternative interpretation algorithms
- Local microclimate considerations
SkyPredict prioritizes accuracy by combining multiple data sources and applying machine learning to identify the most probable outcomes.
How can I get weather alerts for my area?
You can set up personalized weather alerts in several ways:
- On our website, go to the Forecast page and click "Set Alert" for your location
- Download our mobile app (available for iOS and Android) and enable push notifications

Is SkyPredict available internationally?
Yes! SkyPredict provides weather data for locations worldwide. Our coverage includes:
- All continents and most inhabited islands
- Over 200,000 cities and towns
- Custom coordinates for any location on Earth
Note that forecast accuracy may vary in extremely remote areas with limited weather station coverage.
How accurate are your long-range forecasts?
Forecast accuracy decreases as the time range increases:
| Time Range | Temperature Accuracy | Precipitation Accuracy |
|---|---|---|
| 1-3 days | 90-95% | 85-90% |
| 4-7 days | 80-85% | 75-80% |
| 8-14 days | 70-75% | 60-65% |
These are average accuracy rates based on our verification studies. Actual accuracy may vary by location and season.
